Deborah Hollis

Deborah Hollis, pianist, received performance degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Illinois and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts in collaborative piano at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro under the direction of Andrew Harley and James Douglass. Her teachers include Anne Vanko Liva, Miles Mauney, Kenneth Drake and Claire Richards. Hollis has also participated in master classes given by pianists Geza Anda, Rudolph Jensen, Martin Katz, John Wustman, and Clifford Benson; and composers John Harbison, Jake Heggie and Ricky Ian Gordon.
Ms Hollis has performed as a chamber musician and accompanist in Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Malibu, Raleigh, Salzburg, Surry (England), Sunndalsora (Norway), and most recently at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. She was pianist for the Chicago Symphony First Chair Series, and has served as the official accompanist for the Long Leaf Opera Company National Vocal Competition and master class with composer/pianist Jake Heggie, and for the Eastern Music Festival master classes with Ryan Anthony and David Krakauer.
Partnering frequently with university faculty and chamber groups, Ms. Hollis has been heard in numerous North Carolina Triangle area venues including the N.C. Museum of Art Sights & Sounds and the Duke University Rare Book Room concert series. She has served on staff at Duke University, Northeastern University in Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and is currently on faculty at Guilford College.
